Nutritional InformationGood nutrition is a part of our educational program. We encourage you to provide lunches and other special party snacks of natural, unprocessed foods. Good nutrition directly affects your child's health, concentration and behavior. Please alert the staff to any allergies and/or special food needs that your child may have.
SnacksA variety of nutritious snacks will be offered by the school each day. Each child will have the opportunity to provide snack for the class during the year.
LunchesState licensing requires that all children who stay for lunch have a well-balanced meal. This includes one serving of a milk product per day (ie., cheese, yogurt, and/or milk). It is ultimately the school's responsibility to ensure that all children eating lunch at school have met this requirement. Please provide one of the above milk products in your child's lunch each day. Please prepare lunches so that they may be eaten without assistance. A napkin and necessary eating utensils should be included. Your child's lunch should consist of a main course (ie., sandwich, soup, etc.), fruit and milk. Granola bars, chips, pretzels, dried fruit, popcorn, cheese and crackers, and raw vegetables are some suggestions to make your child's lunch appetizing and nutritious. Please do not send red, purple (ie., grape juice, Kool-Aid) or other types of juice that cause stains in your child's lunch. Accidental spills can permanently stain clothing and carpet. Please note that staining juice will not be opened at school and water will be provided as a substitute. For safety and nutritional reasons please DO NOT send glass containers, gum, candy, peanuts or soft drinks. If your child forgets to bring a lunch the school is equipped to provide one. If this occurs repeatedly there will be a charge to the parent.
After School SnackIf your child is registered in the after school care program, please provide a snack in your child's lunch each day to be eaten after school.
